American Soldier slide show and captions

Photos
A. What is the most powerful image from the slideshows? Why?
It was whenever Ian's mom cried while Ian took an oath, her mom afraid of what might happen to her son happen. It is the emotion that carries on in this series of pictures.

B. What sequence of photographs is the most powerful? Why?
The first chapter:singing up is definitely the most emotional sequence. The emotions that piled up whenever ones about to face a fear ahead; love, happiness, wonder, confusion,

c. How do the images work together to tell a story?
The image tells story through it's set up of chronological sequence, the changing emotions, and through caption.

Captions
A. For the photos in which Ian is the main subject of the photos, in what tense are the verbs usually written?
The captions are usually written with simple present tense verbs.

B. How do the captions enhance the photographs?
The caption tells the story that shapes the picture itself into what was happening.

Under the "Chapter 3: Basic Training" group of photos, look at the last photo where Ian is in Airport and making a face after a flight. Ian looks sick after buying ticket for a flight home after the basic training. The basic training was enough to make him feel funny and now he has to ride an airplane.

Under the "Chapter 1: Singing Up", look at the third row and third column picture in which Ian have a taste of his going away cake. Ian licks his finger, tasting the frosting, unable to wait to cut his cake. He didn't want the others to eat his cake before he does.

In "Chapter 4: First Assignment" group of photos, look at the seventh picture to the last where Ian patrols with his gun and falls asleep during his assignment. Ian takes watch position, protecting his base, and falls asleep because his lack of sleep in his job. He has stayed up late the previous night for another watch.

Video
A. How do these other features enhance the photographs?
It has the voice of the people themselves instead of text, the tone of the voice.

B. In what ways are videos better than photographs? Provide an example from the Denver Post Web site.
Videos gives better reaction to a question than the word themselves. The people body languages shown in videos are clearer than those in photos. Whenever you see Ian in video he looks scared but if you look at the photos he has less fear and more happiness.

C. In what ways are photos better than videos? Provide an example from the Denver Post Web site.
Photos lets you see an event with better angle and more meaning shaped by the photographer themselves, it gets better visualization. Whenever you see someone talks and picture, you can visualize the picture better, because you see what was happening. The picture lets your brain summarize an event in faster pace than words themselves; you can see 50+ pictures and summarize whats happening than reading a book. Its similar to reading a manga and reading a book. In this website, whenever I browse through a series of picture and long 7 minutes videos, it was faster for me to get know whats going on in pictures than videos, but the videos give unlimited access to the detail of an event.

Unsatisfied, the bull is coming for the sensei himself. The bull didn't have fun with the students.

Foolish humans buying this. I shall use you for the yummy treat like before!

Having picnic without candy? That's why i brought kitty.

Cool Video

I would like to see more picture because the video holder wasn't very steady, even though its hard to do so. The video could be better if the maker of the video has a video of the event's audiences at some point, change the lightning of the last video about buying yearbook, putting more of the football team into the video. The audience of this video can tell that the school is more happy about the band than the team itself. Then maybe see if its better to put a picture on transition of the groups; cheerleader, dancers, band, maybe a cool pose or action. They could always do the transition during a good hard beat.

Mural Assignment Questions

1. What theme that we could take here at school could we do a series of these panels to place around the school?
We could use theme of school spirit, unforgettable classes, academy promotion,  architecture of Akins, individual hobby, friendship, or sports event.

2. Should we use phones only, or should we open it up to our regular cameras for those people that don't have camera phones?
I think we should use our regular cameras to have more option to what to do, plus not everyone has a good phone camera that can take an HD picture, good lightning, zoom option. If we use regular cameras we might be able to take some good manual picture with a better view.

3. Where would you want to put the mural on campus?
If we were to put mural on campus, we should put it near the office where many people passes by it and able to view it.

High Dynamic Range

Getting an HDI photography, you need to take series of photos with different stops and edit it to combine while leaving the "middle portion of the contrast range relatively unaffected". In some cameras there is a feature called auto exposure bracketing, AEB, that automatically takes a serious of picture with different stops.
In our case, the camera that we're using (Canon Rebel T3/EOS 1100DD SLR) has a feature of +/-2 stops in 1/3- or 1/2-stop increments that can be used to make an HDI photography.
Locations or environments around or in Akins for a good HDI picture would be the courtyard, the facade, the track, the hallway, anywhere a light exposure is present on a good view of Akins' architecture or beautiful view.

I like this picture because of the glow effect made by AEB feature and/or using a tone mapping program. The balance is stunning and there is so much emotion into it. The simplicity technique is outlined by a glowing effect of light exposure around the tower itself, outlining a fantasy view. The lines shown backs up the balance, adding more emotions to the tall, strong, and beautiful of Eiffel Tower making this picture dreamlike.

Fixed Photo Shoot Post Shoot Reflection

1. What did you learn about the camera when you took these photos?
It can manipulate the light captured in real life using ISO, aperture and shutter speed.

2. What do you notice about all the photos and the way they look?
The lightning gets lighter as the ISO number, F-stop number, and shutter speed increase.

3. Can you tell the difference between each ISO? Explain how.
As the ISO number increase, so does the lightning, it gets lighter and lighter, and the graphic/quality decrease as the ISO number increase.

4. What does this tell you about ISO and what it does when you change it when you take pictures?
When you change it to higher ISO, the quality decrease to gain more light on the surrounding.

5. What about focus? Can you see a difference in the photos? Tell me what differences and similarities you see.
If focus increase, the quality increase, the ISO number lowers down to 100.

6. Post the best photo you took on your blog. Make sure to label the following things: ISO, Shutter Speed, F-stop, Distance, Focal Length, Lighting.
ISO 800, Shutter speed 1/15s, F-stop F5.6, Distance 15feet, Normal lightning.

7. What do you need to concentrate on when you go out to shoot next time when you have to shoot in Manual setting?
The focus and the lightning is something I have to watch out for.

Great Black and White Photographers Part 3

Ansel Adam caught my eyes because he took beautiful pictures of the nature and the lines from the trees or the exposure.

Early Morning, Merced River, Yosemite, National Park, California

I see a scenery of the morning in Yosemite National Park
I smell the fresh air from this forest
I hear the wind stroking the leaves of the forest
I taste the morning air
I feel a fresh energy surrounding me

Tenaya Creek, Dogwood Rain, Yosemite Valley

I see the small creek flowing.
I smell the green on the air and a scent of some flowers.
I hear the chirps of small birds and the water rushing slowly.
I taste the leaves in my mouth.
I feel the cold water on my palm and the shade of sunlight.
